The Mural Building: Chicago Community Loan Fund

We’re proud to unveil our new mural in partnership with the Chicago Community Loan Fund (CCLF). This organization is dedicated to providing flexible, affordable, and responsible financing and technical assistance for community stabilization and development initiatives that benefit low- to moderate-income neighborhoods, families, and individuals throughout Chicago.

“What better way to kick off CCLF’s 30 years of community investment than with a dynamic mural showing how we are able to create economic justice?” said Calvin L. Holmes, president of CCLF. “This inspiring art demonstrates how Chicagoland communities flourish when we partner together.”

With vivid colors and bright, playful imagery, the mural represents the vibrancy of the resilient communities of color where CCLF concentrates its efforts. It features phrases like “opportunity,” “economic justice,” and “partnership,” to reflect the impact of long-term investments in lower-income neighborhoods. These investments help local residents build wealth and stay in their homes, while filling empty spaces with amenities, activities, and a sense of pride. CCLF believes this long-term investment in underserved communities throughout our city brings economic justice to our entire region.

As Chicago’s Bank®, Wintrust is proud to partner with organizations that share our commitment to our area. We’re proud supporters of CCLF’s mission, and we’re excited to see what they accomplish next.

In the coming years, CCLF aims to champion equity and economic justice by deploying $100 million of affordable, flexible capital to pursue economic progress in low-income communities of color. The organization will continue investing in community developers and local entrepreneurs of color to help them build their enterprises through hands-on technical assistance and customer service. Additionally, CCLF plans to expand services to more suburban communities in the area experiencing persistent poverty.
